Bronchofree Capsules: Effective Relief from Cough and Nasal Congestion

Composition:

Each capsule contains:

  • Benzonatate 100 mg.
  • Guaifenesin 100 mg.
  • Diphenhydramine 25 mg.
  • Phenylephrine HCl 10 mg.

Properties:

Benzonatate relieves cough by acting on stretched cough receptors in the lung and through a central mechanism. Guaifenesin increases mucous flow in the lung by stimulating gastric mucosal reflexes. Diphenhydramine is an H1 antagonist with an antitussive effect. Phenylephrine HCl shrinks swollen mucous membranes, reducing tissue hyperemia, edema, and congestion.

Indications:

For symptomatic relief of cough.

Dosage Administration:

For adults, take one capsule three times a day. Swallow the capsule whole.

Contraindications:

  • It is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Also, this preparation is contraindicated for patients with severe coronary disease, severe cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or hyperthyroidism.
  • It should not be taken concomitantly with monoamine oxidase inhibitors or within 10 days of stopping such treatment.
  • The product should be used with caution by pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Side Effects:

Constipation, nausea, GI upset, sedation, headache, dizziness, pruritus, skin eruptions, nasal congestion, sensation of burning in the eyes, hypersensitivity reactions including bronchospasm and laryngospasm.
