Composition:

Each capsule contains:

  • Tamsulosin HCl 0.4 mg

Properties:

Tamsulosin HCl acts as an antagonist of alpha1A adrenoreceptors in the prostate. It specifically targets alpha1A receptors in the human prostate. Three distinct alpha1 adrenoreceptor subtypes have been identified: alpha1A, alpha1B, and alpha1D. Their distribution varies among human organs and tissues. Approximately 70% of the alpha1 receptors in the human prostate are of the alpha1A subtype.

Indications:

Block Alpha MR capsules are used to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Dosage Administration:

The recommended dose for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of BPH is one Block Alpha MR (tamsulosin HCl) capsule of 0.4 mg daily, approximately half an hour following the same meal each day. For patients who do not respond to the 0.4 mg dose after two to four weeks of dosing, the dose of Block Alpha MR capsules can be increased to 0.8 mg once daily. If the administration of Block Alpha MR capsules is discontinued or interrupted for several days, therapy should be resumed with the 0.4 mg once daily dose.

Contraindications:

Block Alpha MR capsules should not be used in patients known to be hypersensitive to tamsulosin HCl or any component of Block Alpha MR capsules.

Precautions and Warnings:

Carcinoma of the prostate: Patients should be evaluated before starting Block Alpha MR therapy to rule out the presence of carcinoma of the prostate.

Driving, operating machinery, or performing hazardous tasks: Patients should be cautioned against performing such activities when using Block Alpha MR.

Pregnancy: Block Alpha MR is classified as (Pregnancy Category B). Block Alpha MR capsules are not intended for use in women.

Nursing Mothers: Block Alpha MR capsules are not intended for use in women.

Pediatric Use: Block Alpha MR capsules are not intended for use in pediatric populations.

Side Effects:

Adverse reactions are rare and may include headache, infections, asthenia, back pain, chest pain, dizziness, somnolence, insomnia, decreased libido, rhinitis, pharyngitis, increased cough, sinusitis, diarrhea, nausea, tooth disorder, abnormal ejaculation, and amblyopia.

Packing:

Each box contains 3 strips, each with 10 capsules.
