Composition:

Each capsule contains:

  • Doxycycline 100 mg
  • Ambroxol HCl 75 mg

Properties:

  • Doxycycline exhibits bacteriostatic activity against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms.
  • Ambroxol, a metabolite of bromohexine, acts as a mucolytic and mucoregulatory agent by normalizing mucus production.
  • The combination of Doxycycline and Ambroxol in Ambrodoxy helps treat infections and their associated symptoms simultaneously, enhancing patient compliance.

Indications:

For upper and lower respiratory tract infections, particularly those accompanied by excessive mucus secretion, such as:

  • Sinusitis
  • Acute bronchitis in asthma
  • Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
  • Asthmatic bronchitis
  • Pneumonia

Dosage Administration:

  • The usual adult dose is two capsules on the first day, followed by one capsule daily for the remainder of the treatment period.
  • In severe infections, two capsules should be taken daily throughout the treatment.
  • Children over 10 years of age and/or weighing 50 kg or more can follow the adult dosage.

Contraindications:

Ambrodoxy is contraindicated for:

  1. Patients with hypersensitivity to any tetracyclines.
  2. Use during the first trimester of pregnancy and in lactating women.
  3. Patients with peptic ulcer.

Side Effects:

Side effects, especially those affecting the gastrointestinal tract (the most common), are significantly reduced due to the special formulation of Ambrodoxy. These may include gastrointestinal adverse events such as anorexia, nausea, vomiting, gastric irritation, diarrhea, glossitis, and monilial overgrowth of the anogenital region, as well as abnormal liver function, skin rash, hypersensitivity reactions, and blood abnormalities.
