Cefdinir Magic: Unveiling the Potent Dinar Suspension for Bacterial Infections
Composition:
Each 5 ml of the oral suspension contains 125 mg of cefdinir, in a 60 ml bottle after reconstitution.
Properties:
Dinar suspension contains the active ingredient cefdinir, an extended-spectrum, semisynthetic third-generation cephalosporin, for oral administration. The bactericidal activity of cefdinir results from inhibiting cell wall synthesis. It has been shown to be active against most strains of microorganisms:
- Aerobic Gram-positive microorganisms: Staphylococcus aureus (including B-lactamase-producing strain), Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Streptococcus pyogenes.
- Aerobic Gram-negative microorganisms: Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis (including B-lactamase-producing strain).
Indications:
- Acute bacterial otitis media.
- Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes.
- Uncomplicated skin and skin structural infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.
Dosage Administration:
Children:
- For children, the dosage is 7 mg/kg/dose twice daily for 5-10 days or 14 mg/kg/dose once daily for 10 days (maximum 600 mg/day).
- Dosing adjustment in renal impairment: CLcr<30 ml/minute: 300 mg once daily.
- For patients undergoing haemodialysis, the recommended initial dose is 300 mg or 7 mg/kg/dose every other day. At the end of each haemodialysis session, 300 mg or 7 mg/kg should be given.
Contraindications:
Dinar suspension is contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics.
Packing:
Each box contains 1 bottle of 60 ml.
